BECNT Associate Membership – Terms and Conditions
1. Membership Status
1.1 By purchasing or receiving a BECNT Business Membership, you become an Associate Member of the Business Enterprise Centre (Darwin Region) Incorporated (“BECNT”), in accordance with clause 9(c) of the BECNT Constitution.
1.2 As an Associate Member:
You agree to support the purposes of BECNT and comply with its Code of Conduct.
You have the right to be present and debate at general meetings but do not have voting rights.
You cannot be nominated for a Board role, nor nominate or second others for a Board role.
2. Free Membership for Eligible Businesses
2.1 Businesses with an annual turnover of $75,000 or less are eligible for a free 12-month membership under the following conditions:
The free membership is only available to businesses using BECNT’s free services supported by the Northern Territory Government (NTG).
The business must engage directly with a BECNT business mentor as part of receiving these services.
2.2 The free membership is valid for one year only and cannot be renewed at no cost beyond the initial term.
2.3 At the end of the free 12-month term, members wishing to continue must pay the applicable membership fee in place at the time of renewal.
2.4 BECNT reserves the right to request evidence of annual turnover to confirm eligibility.
3. Membership Term and Renewal
3.1 Paid membership is valid for 12 months from the date of payment unless otherwise stated.
3.2 Renewal notices will be issued prior to expiry. Failure to renew within two months of expiry may result in termination of membership.
4. Membership Benefits
4.1 Membership benefits include:
$500 discount on a website build (starting from $2,000)
20% off accounting and bookkeeping services
TV advertising bonus – spend $3,000 and receive $3,000 airtime free
20% off event space hire
One month’s free office rental for every 12 months committed
10% off BECNT business services
Free downloadable legal templates
Free access to BECNT paid workshops
Early invitations to BECNT events
Use of the “We Support NT Business” logo
4.2 Benefits are subject to availability, may change during the membership term, and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit.
4.3 Some benefits are provided by third-party suppliers and may be subject to their own terms and conditions.
5. Use of “We Support NT Business” Logo
5.1 Members may display the logo while their membership is current.
5.2 Use must comply with BECNT brand guidelines and must not misrepresent your relationship with BECNT.
5.3 Upon termination or expiry of membership, use of the logo must cease immediately.
6. Conduct and Compliance
6.1 Members must conduct themselves in a manner consistent with BECNT’s values.
6.2 BECNT reserves the right to suspend or expel members in accordance with the Constitution where conduct is detrimental to the interests of BECNT.
7. Communications
7.1 By becoming a member, you agree to receive:
Membership-related communications (including renewals, benefit updates, and operational notices).
Marketing communications from BECNT, including news, events, offers, and promotions relevant to NT businesses.
Surveys and consultation requests to help improve BECNT services.
7.2 You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using unsubscribe links in emails or by contacting [email protected].
7.3 Operational and membership-related communications are essential to your membership and cannot be unsubscribed from.
8. Data Collection and Use
8.1 BECNT collects and stores member information for the purposes of delivering membership services, maintaining records, and complying with legal obligations.
8.2 By becoming a member, you consent to the use of your anonymised data for:
Statistical analysis and reporting
Program evaluation
Reporting to funding bodies, including the Northern Territory Government
Reporting to sponsors and strategic partners in connection with programs, events, and membership initiatives
8.3 Personal information will be handled in accordance with BECNT’s Privacy Policy.
9. Termination of Membership
9.1 Membership may be terminated by:
Written resignation from the member;
Non-payment of fees within the time allowed under clause 11(d) of the Constitution;
Suspension or expulsion under clause 19 of the Constitution.
10. Limitation of Liability
10.1 To the extent permitted by law, BECNT is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from the use of membership benefits, whether provided directly by BECNT or third-party partners.
11. Changes to Terms and Conditions
11.1 BECNT may amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Members will be notified of changes via the email address on record. Continued use of membership benefits constitutes acceptance of the amended terms.
