Apple issues urgent iPhone software update to address critical spyware vulnerability

This week, Apple issued an emergency software update to prevent a spyware program from infecting any user's iPhone, Apple Watch or Mac computer.

Using the zero-click infection method, Pegasus can turn on a user's camera and microphone, record messages, texts, emails, calls — even those sent via encrypted messaging and phone apps like Signal.

Apple has released security updates to address these vulnerabilities. Owners of Apple products should apply the available security updates above as soon as possible.

Guidance on how to apply software updates to Apple products is available from the Apple security updates page.

The Australian Cyber Security Centre is monitoring the situation and is able to provide assistance and advice as required. Organisations that have been impacted or require assistance can contact the ACSC via 1300 CYBER1 (1300 292 371).
