6 Simple Low-Cost social media advertising tips

Bad news first, it’s now harder than ever to get your advertising noticed on social media.

Let’s break this down to its most basic level, most people believe in this process – Create new content, post it on your socials, people buy your stuff.

Sorry to burst that bubble, but this never happens, most of the content put out into the world is scrolled past without a second thought, so how can you effectively increase sales through social media?

“Think about what people are doing on Facebook today. They’re keeping up with their friends and family, but they’re also building an image and identity for themselves, which in a sense is their brand. They’re connecting with the audience that they want to connect to. It’s almost a disadvantage if you’re not on it now.” – by Mark Zuckerberg

Improve your Facebook ads relevance score – Put simply, the higher engagement your post receives, the higher the relevance score, this means more shares and a lower cost per engagement.

Know your audience – Targeting everybody is an easy way to waste money, so its up to you to understand who is going to be interested in your content and directly target them (Who are they? Where do they live? How much do they earn? etc) how this is done is up to you, it can be as simple as using the correct hash-tags or as complex as segmenting your market and directly targeting your ideal consumer, but by doing this you will multiply engagement level and thus sales.

Don’t forget about regular posts (and make sure people see the good ones) – There is a lot to be said about for a complex targeted ad campaigns, and done correctly this will help your business fly, but in terms of building awareness of your business, there is nothing better than regular interesting content, and once you have a post with high engagement from your existing base, make sure that you sponsor the hell out of that to the public… simple but effective.

But don’t post just for the sake of it – Think to yourself, is what I’m posting actually interesting to me, or am I just posting this because I feel I should? have your partner or an employee look at it first. This seems obvious but so many people fall into this trap, and the brutal truth is posting boring content or ugly images its more likely to disengage than engage. Before every post think, would I be happy if this were a first impression of my business?

Targeting ‘People who like my page and their friends’ is a brilliant way of businesses with a good number of likes and follows engaging their existing base, at also growing It, chances are that if somebody likes your page, then friends of theirs will also.

Use the correct call of action for your product, AND TEST IT (A/B Testing) – What is the easiest way for your customer to access your product? A link to a booking site? ‘Call to find out more’ or linking the customer directly to talk with you on messenger. There is no right answer, so we let the customers decide. Facebook ads have just enabled A/B testing allowing you to show customers two versions of the same ad but with a different call to actions, allowing you to test and measure how your customers want to engage with you. This will inform all of your Facebook advertising going forward.
